Antiquing
Antique brass and copper finishes are used in a variety of hardware and decorative applications—lighting components, cabinet hardware, etc. Antique copper is also sometimes referred to as statuary bronze.
“Antiquing” is a labor intensive process that involves a blackening step followed by subsequent tumbling to remove some portion of the black film. The end result is a “distressed” or antique looking finish. A lacquer post dip is then typically applied to the final antiqued finish to prevent tarnishing.
Varland Metal Service can produce antique finishes on brass or copper plated parts provided the parts have a configuration conducive to this process.
