Bead Blasting
Bead blasting is a form of mechanical finishing and is performed for variety of purposes. In some cases chemical cleaning processes are not capable of cleaning customer parts—due to excessive rust, scale, etc. Bead blasting provides an alternative means to clean these “hard-to-clean” parts. Second, some cleaning and/or plating specifications require that parts receive no acid (pickling) during processing. Bead blasting (or mechanical cleaning) is a means to clean parts without giving them acid. Last, bead blasting can be used on plated parts (particularly nickel plated parts) to achieve a satin or matte finish.
Varland’s bead blasting capability gives us the flexibility of additional cleaning and finishing methods as mentioned above. Even though this cleaning process is accomplished by mechanical means, it is not damaging to parts due to the type of media used during blasting.
